It is surprising that people visit temples to request fulfillment of
desires.....
Do we have love towards the God or love towards our desires?
it is ideal to loose all desires except getting God...
and realizing the God within... within all of us shall be the ultimate desire.
It is painfully true that, I am far from the ideal. But, I feel , at least as long as in the temple, practice to think only about God....or think about nothing....or just let the thoughts flow freely....rather than directing them towards the worldly desires.
Our enlightenment depends not in multiplying the desires but in our ability to regulate them and control them. We (or at least I) , the ordinary, require a lifetime practice..
